World Students’ Day is celebrated every year on October 15 on Former president APJ Abdul Kalama’s birthday. The day is commemorated on his birth anniversary because Dr Kalama was a dedicated teacher and identified himself foremost in that role before anything else.
History of World Students day-
To honor and mark the importance of India’s 11th President APJ Abdul Kalama, in 2010 the United Nations declared his birthday on 15 October to be celebrated as World Students Day. A scientist of global repute, Kalama was respected the world over in 2005, Kalama visited Switzerland, after which the country declared May 26 to be observed as ‘Science Day’ as a mark of respect and in honor of his visit.
